New York Fashion Week: Spring 2014

New York Fashion Week is still in full swing showcasing the newest looks for Spring 2014. We continue to see reoccurring themes throughout the shows. The top 4 trends that have ruled the runway this fashion week have us anticipating the upcoming season!

1.  METALLICS: Shine on! The metallic trend makes its way back year after year; however this time the trend has  transformed its way from futuristic to sophisticated.  Zac Posen, Diane von Furstenberg, Reem Acra, and Marissa Webb are just a few of the designers who embellished their looks with sequins and incorporated dazzling metallic into their Spring collections.

2.  ULTRA BRIGHTS: Vivid glowing colors light up the runway this season. Oscar de la Renta showcased his new collection filled with vivid pastels, Mara Hoffman and Naeem Kahn pumped up the volume with bright rainbow inspired prints. Additionally, designers like Vera Wang and Monique llhier reveled their Spring 2014 line filled with bright eye-catching red and fuchsia hues.

3.  CROP IT OUT:  The crop top lives on! One of our favorite trends last Spring has made its way back to fashion week stronger than ever. We continued to see the exposed midriff everywhere from Carolina Herrera, Badgley Mischka, and Diane von Furstenberg to Mara Hoffman and Vivienne Tam. Just to name a few.

4. PEEK-A-BOO:  Spring collections continue to release refreshingly white looks. Designers have approached this seasons all time go-to in a nuanced way using sheer fabrics and crochet sweaters. They revamped this classic favorite with laser cut details and sophisticated peek-a-boo styles. Catherine Malandrino and Sass and Bides laser cut frocks create a 3D effect, where Nannette Lepore, Carmen Marc Valvo, and Naeem Kahns classic white peek-a-boo styles suggest skin is in this spring!
